Out of the Mouth's of Babes-- part two


Kaden is an expert at stalling when it comes to going to bed. He always comes out of his room at least once and asks some random question that he thinks of on the spot.

I heard him coming down the stairs one night and said loudly, "Go to bed Kaden!"
He continued to come down.

Kaden: "Um mom, I just have a question."

Me: "Go to bed Kaden."

Kaden: "But mom, I was just thinking about Jesus, and I have a question."

(my ears perk up, I wouldn't want to miss a great teaching moment.)

Me: "What bud?"

Kaden: I was just wondering, would the plural form of Jesus be Jesi?


Hailey and I also had an "interesting" conversation.

We were at TJ Maxx and she kept saying that her tummy hurt. When we got outside she said it hurt again.

Me: Hailey, what kind of hurt is it? Do you feel like you are going to throw up?

Hailey: No, mom. (cups hand to mouth and whispers) I just have gas.

Me: (laughing)

Hailey: (cups hand to mouth and whispers, again) See, that's why I just tooted.

Me: (laughing)

Hailey: Mom, does everyone call it "toots"?

Me: No, our family calls it that, but some families have different names for it.

Hailey: Mom, does Jesus call it "toots"?

Me: (laughing)- Um, I'm not sure what Jesus calls it. Maybe he calls it flatulence.

Hailey: Mom, does Jesus toot?

Me: (laughing) Well, I'm sure he did on the earth, but let's hope none of us have to "toot" in heaven.

I'm glad my kids are thinking of Jesus. :)

And finally Ella-- she likes to be funny sometimes. She likes to call me a "stinka" (stinker).

Ella: Mom, you a stinka.

Me: I am?

Ella: Mom, you a stinka bum. (I had never heard her say that- so I started laughing.)

Me: Oh really?

Ella: You a stinka bum. You need to take a baf (bath).

I straightened Ella's hair with my flat iron the other day. I couldn't catch a good picture because she was being a hard target and I had to use my older, slower camera. Anyways, this would've been cute if her eyes weren't wiggin' out. The backside- it was totally uneven and choppy. My kids thought she looked "so funny" and were laughing their heads off. It looks cute in the picture, but in real life it did look kind of funny. Thayne even said she looked like Chris Farley-- poor baby! She thought she was cute though.

I'm changing the name of this blog...

I think it should be called the "My Strep throat blog", or maybe the "Update on Ella blog", or it could be "Our vacation log blog". That pretty much covers this blog and this post.

Yes. I. have. strep. throat. again. Don't worry Utahns, I will be on a two week course of antibiotics this time and won't be contagious by tomorrow. I wonder if I am even contagious anyway. During the last case of it, at Sea World, I actually chewed up a starburst and put it in Ella's mouth. She never got it. And I guarantee that everyone in my family drank off of my water bottle at one point or another.

My tonsils and mouth get so swollen that they wanted to put me on steroids the last two times. (However, I never filled that prescription.) My tonsils were actually touching my uvula (nice). This case doesn't feel nearly as bad, and the doctor still freaked at the sight of my throat. He thinks I need to see an ENT. He thinks my tonsils may be past the point of no return, and they may need to come out. I'm going to have to check this out.

When I googled it, it sounded like someone in the family could be carrying strep (maybe me.) I was hoping we could test all of my children before I get to the tonsils coming out point. He said that it most likely isn't the case and insurance would wonder why we were testing healthy people. (It all comes down to insurance-- doesn't it?)

He also asked if I snore. He said that I am so swollen, he would be suprised that I didn't snore and cause myself not to get good sleep. I do have to say that I NEVER wake up feeling rested, but I thought that was just me going to bed too late and rarely getting the eight hours that my body needs (no wonder I keep getting this.) And, considering that Thayne has pretty much never seen me truly asleep... who knows if I snore?? Thayne is the deepest sleeper on planet earth (as compared to planet mars??) and I am the lightest sleeper (annoying on both parts.) If Thayne is awake, or so much as bats an eyelid, I am awake. I sound like some sort of anxious, crazy woman, but I don't feel like that at all. I just inherited light sleeping genes.

Anyhoo- enough of my strep throat tales. I was just wondering if anyone else has had experience with multiple cases of strep?? Or tonsilitis.

And because I like to add pictures, here are a couple of the inside of our house. I have not decorated yet, so there is nothing on the walls.

#3- We moved our computer to the kitchen, even though there is an office. I have to say I am loving it there, especially since my kids are wanting to get on it now.

Man, I think that was the longest blog break I have taken since I started this blog.

We've been busy. Busy, busy, busy.

Here is what we have been doing. Be prepared for excitement.

*May always means end of school year activities and other craziness. Examples: School talent show (Kaden performed), kindergarten picnic and celebrations, showcase night, American idol party etc. etc.

* Lot's of meetings. Meetings, meetings, meetings. Ella's early intervention programs change from state care, to school district care at age three. She will be starting preschool on her birthday in August. This involves lots of evaluations with old therapists and new ones, etc. I have two more meetings this week.

*Another trip to San Diego.

*Another case of strep throat (on my trip to San Diego-- what the heck is going on? I'm the only one getting this.)

*Swim lessons, scout (day) camp, piano lessons, dr appointments, broken down car etc. etc.

*And our biggest news and biggest reason of no blogging is...............................(no, I'm not prego).............

.............. we moved! (pictures and explantion to follow)

Hailey-first day of kindergarten. (BTW, a new superintendent got rid of school uniforms on the fourth day of school. Not very nice considering everyone had already bought them. I actually prefer school uniforms and wrote a letter telling them why. I don't think it is going to change anything though- oh well.)

Trip to legoland- I got these tickets for ten bucks.

We also took a trip to New York City.

And South Dakota.
We went to the olympics too.... oh wait those aren't aren't for a couple of months.

Did a little boogie boarding. ...while I slept in the car (strep throat, remember?) Maybe I should mention that most of this San Diego day was spent looking for and waiting in an urgent care. While I was waiting in the urgent care, three serious emergency patients came in and they had to call the paramedics each time. I'm not sure why those people did not just go to the e.r., it was right across the street. Oh well, I hope they are ok. (Two of them were elderly and were having heart problems.)
Sea world. My view at the end of the day from the car, again. (Strep throat, remember?) This was actually the first day in San Diego. It rained on and off the whole day. I did catch this beautiful rainbow... and that is the ride Thayne, Kaden, and Hailey rode about five times while I was in the car. It was their favorite.

And finally, we said good bye to this. (You've been a great home for us little housy. We'll miss you. Kaden is especially sad to say good bye to his best neighbor buddies)

Our beautiful front doors... we found on ebay.

Explanation- Thayne built this home as an investment. We bought the (acre) lot three years ago in the peak of the market. About a month or two later, the housing market slowed.... and has been slowing ever since. We pretty much could not have timed it worse. So, we have decided to live in it and figure out what to do with our other house (sale, rent, etc??) For now I am going to enjoy it, but if you know anyone who wants a 4400 sq foot home on an acre lot, let me know :)

By the way, I did not have email or phone for a week, so I am just getting back to responding and checking everyone's blogs.
