Quick update

Hi family and friends,

I've been too busy to blog (or facebook) for a while, but I wanted to give a quick update on Ella.
We did all of the testing that the specialist in LA suggested, and we finally got some results! Ella IS growth hormone deficient!! I feel a little odd saying this, but I am so excited for these results. I am just GRATEFUL to finally have something 'show up' that makes sense.

You may be asking what does GH have to do with weight gain?? It is very much connected to how we metabolize fat, especially in kids who have Ella's medical condition (ONH).

"Growth Hormone helps to maintain muscle tissue, and is essential for the body to be able to use up and get rid of fats instead of storing them". It plays even more roles, but I won't get into them.

Unfortunately, this also means that I will have to give Ella a shot everyday. That is not going to be fun, but I will join the ranks of other mother's who have had to do it.

The specialist in LA said, "In general, GH has significantly helped ONH kids with slimming out. But, there have been a few that have not." I am hoping that she won't be "in the few that have not" category.

I can't wait to see Ella at a normal weight, being able to run around with the other kids. And on a more petty note, I would love to dress her in a cute outfit with cute shoes (it's hard to dress an obese preschooler, and shoes have been a huge issue).

Once again, thank you for the prayers. I know they worked. I'm off to wrap some presents....it's Hailey's birthday.
